In this society we take being single as a bad thing. As if being single is a blemish to hide. I've known girls that make up their partners. Things like "yeah John is such a great guy! I think we'll get married". Should we be so ashamed of our status? We're in the 21st century people!
I hate that my friends keep doing it but I keep getting set up on blind dates. I will admit that I have been looking for a partner since my break up. I've been wanting to have someone to take my mind off my problems. But I've been taking it slowly. I'll do matches online, I'll ask out people in stores, but for the most part it's nothing too serious. Back to my point, I have been put up to a couple dozen blind dates. I do not see the reason why I should have to go out on a date with someone.
If dating is such a private matter why do we make it so social? I do want to date, but it's not the top of my list.
My true question is, why help those who are already helping themselves?
